Meeting #130, Tue 20th October 2015

Some of you attented the inaugural SYDBIM meeting on 29 Sept at UTS. This was a really well attended function featuring a fun and thought-provoking keynote presentation by Lee Crocker. The presentation was followed by general news and discussion about all things BIM in the greater Sydney area - in particular on collaboration. Following the discussion everyone adjourned to the foyer for drinks and delicious food courtesy of sponsors A2K.
The audience was quite different to the RUGS meetings - many more people from the construction side, and people using all kinds of BIM and GIS software.

RUGS will now be sharing timeslots with SYDBIM - alternate months. As the venue for SYDBIM is not always available on the second tuesday of the month, the timetable will be less predictable.
The next RUGS meeting would normally be on 13th Oct, but that is too soon after the SYDBIM meetings so we are pushing it back for a week or two. Most likely it will be on Tuesday 20th October - but we'll keep you posted on that. We have an exciting new Revit add-on to be presented . . . . TBA

Next RUGS meeting will be held on Tuesday 20th October at Ultimo TAFE. 5.45 for a 6pm start. venue TBA (probably our usual room on level 3)

The main presentation will be by Brent Heber from Storm FX, tasked with supporting their AEC visualisation clients. Brent will be presenting two new visualisation tools for Revit users, Enscape 3D and Fuzor 2016. For instant 3D walk throughs that allow stakeholders to sit beside you at your Revit workstation and grasp the lighting and material reality of your design, Enscape 3D is a perfect fit. As Enscape 3D reads Revit files in real-time, there is no requirement to export files. So there is no wasted time, no need for outsourcing, and with Oculus support just around the corner, Enscape is an incredibly exciting and easy to use tool for BIM departments who need fast turnaround visualisations.

Lighting reports, clash reports, collaborative note management, GIS data import, sunlight tracking, CCTV simulation, cross sections, Fuzor 2016 not only provides a 3D walk through but ticks so many other boxes vital for effective project management. Brent will show their latest release and mobile device support on the night.

There was an exciting preview of Enscape 3D at the inaugural RTC Asia - held in Singapore. We look forward to being able to show you more.
Tim Waldock will give a rundown of some of what else happened at RTC Asia (but not the Friday evening function at Tanjong beach . . .).
Max Labecki will give an update on the recent AUx event in Sydney,
